“No weapon formed against you will succeed, and you will refute any accusation raised against you in court. This is the heritage of the Lord's servants, and their righteousness is from Me." [This is] the Lord's declaration.” Isaiah 54:17
Daniel’s story displays the promise of Isaiah 54:17. “The administrators and satraps, therefore, kept trying to find a charge against Daniel regarding the kingdom. But they could find no charge or corruption, for he was trustworthy, and no negligence or corruption was found in him.” Daniel 6:4
They tried hard to find something to charge against Daniel but unable to do so they tried to trap him in another way. They convinced king Darius to sign a decree that no one was allowed to pray to anything or anyone other than king Darius. This sounded good to king Darius so he signed it into law. Well, that was a law that Daniel could not obey because it sacrificed his obedience to God. Daniel knew his life was on the line if he broke the king’s law but Daniel put his trust in the Lord. Daniel was caught praying and was thrown into the lions den. This is a wonderful lesson to us. If we continue to obey the Lord regardless then not only will we see restoration but restitution. Daniel’s life was spared. The accusers were thrown into the lion’s den and the king issued a new decree that honored God.
25 Then King Darius wrote to those of every people, nation, and language who live in all the earth: "May your prosperity abound. 26 I issue a decree that in all my royal dominion, people must tremble in fear before the God of Daniel: For He is the living God, and He endures forever; His kingdom will never be destroyed, and His dominion has no end. 27 He rescues and delivers; He performs signs and wonders in the heavens and on the earth, for He has rescued Daniel from the power of the lions." 28 So Daniel prospered during the reign of Darius and the reign of Cyrus the Persian. Daniel 6:25-28
If Daniel could live his life in a heathen king’s court and be found trustworthy with no charge, negligence or corruption found in him then it can surely be so today. It is not a matter of whether God’s promises are certain but it is a matter of whether we are found faithful to the creator of those promises.
