Put On

Christian “born again” people are initially double minded. We are born again through the will of God (John 1:13) but we play a part in being renewed in the spirit of our minds. This is not made of magic. We have to “put on” the new man. Let the scriptures explain:

“20 But that is not how you learned about the Messiah, 21 assuming you heard Him and were taught by Him, because the truth is in Jesus: 22 you took off your former way of life, the old man that is corrupted by deceitful desires; 23 you are being renewed in the spirit of your minds; 24 you put on the new man, the one created according to God's likeness in righteousness and purity of the truth. …… just as God also forgave you in Christ.” Ephesians 4:20-32

“5 For those whose lives are according to the flesh think about the things of the flesh, but those whose lives are according to the Spirit, about the things of the Spirit. 6 For the mind-set of the flesh is death, but the mind-set of the Spirit is life and peace. 7 For the mind-set of the flesh is hostile to God because it does not submit itself to God's law, for it is unable to do so. 8 Those whose lives are in the flesh are unable to please God.” Romans 8:5-8

“Do not be conformed to this age, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, so that you may discern what is the good, pleasing, and perfect will of God.” Romans 12:2

Many Christians wonder why they are not getting their prayers answered. Some believe that if they cry loud enough, beg God long enough, give enough money, etc. that God will finally be moved enough to answer their prayers. Not so, God is moved by faith. His faith. Faith is His Word. His Word is Jesus. Nothing - no answered prayer - is created apart from Him, the Word, Jesus, and God. Jesus prayed that we would be one with Him.

God has given faith to every heart (Romans 12:3, faith can also increase, 2 Cor. 10:15).

“1 In the beginning was the Word; and the Word was with God, and the Word was God....” John 1:1-14

17 Sanctify them by the truth; Your word is truth. … " John 17:17-26

In order to be renewed in our minds we must spend time with the Lord which means spending time in His Word and in His Presence. Otherwise, we remain double minded and receive nothing for God does not create any thing apart from His Word. “6 But let him ask in faith, nothing wavering. For he that wavereth is like a wave of the sea driven with the wind and tossed. 7 For let not that man think that he shall receive any thing of the Lord. 8 A double minded man is unstable in all his ways.” James 1:6-8

So, as Christians we must change our stinkin’ thinkin’ after all, it is not getting us anywhere, anyway. The blessing of being renewed in the spirit of our mind is that we are then in position to ask “anything” and “anything” will be done. Why? Because the “anything” that you ask for will be in accordance to His truth. If we ask for anything not in accordance with His truth then we are asking wrongly and will not receive that prayer answered. The power of God works on our behalf when we get with God’s plan and receive His Word as truth instead of what we think we know. It is imperative to receive all of His Word as it is given to us by the Holy Spirit and continue in His Word.

Amen. "Keep every thought captured on Jesus Christ" and "He that began a mighty work in us will complete it till the day of Jesus Christ" and "It is He that wills and causes us to will for His good pleasure". Truthfully, it's a one day at a time trusting God at His word, renewing our minds to keep this double mindedness from continueing and that is the best and most merciful hope there is...Our God is GOOD.

Yes.
Simply put, no condemnation. We all have double mindedness to overcome and it is the mercy of a good God that we can even attempt to do so.
