Check out Genesis 26:1-6. Another famine is occurring in addition to the one that occurred in Abraham’s time. No longer is Abraham around to obtain God’s promised provision for Isaac, so Isaac is doing what everyone else in the land is doing. Isaac is thinking about going to Egypt for sustenance. The Lord appeared to Isaac and basically told him don’t go to Egypt, “I will bless you and confirm the oath sworn to Abraham“. God wanted Isaac to be Abraham’s heir. Now Isaac is given a choice, do what everyone else is doing or do what the Lord said to do. Isaac chose to become the heir and followed the way of his dad. He “listened to God’s voice, kept God’s mandate, commands, statues and instructions”.
Galatians tells us that we too are heirs according to the promise and God wants it that way. God has given such wonderful promises that are yes and amen through Jesus Christ and all who belong to Christ are of Abraham’s seed and heirs to those promises. There are a lot of hurting people today because of poor health, hurricanes, wall street, etc but all who are baptized into Christ and put on Christ can prosper in spite of any of those situations. Just do it the way father Abraham did it and listen to God’s voice, keep God’s mandate, commands, statues and instructions and receive God’s yes and amen promises.
